White House Highlights Biden-Netanyahu Iran Dispute as Proof of President’s Mental Fitness

(Worthy News) – White House aides cited President Joe Biden’s sharp exchanges with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in response to Iran’s recent attack on Israel as proof of his mental fitness and effective leadership according to the New York Times. President Biden’s mental fitness has faced scrutiny since the June 27 presidential debate with former President Donald Trump, where critics questioned Biden’s mental sharpness.

Despite the NY Times reporting several moments of “disorientation” by the president, such as his apparent confusion during a D-Day anniversary in France and forgetting his homeland security secretary’s name, Biden’s staff maintained that he remains mentally sharp.

To address concerns about Biden’s mental acuity, the NY Times reported that aides highlighted a heated exchange between President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the situation room following Iran’s extensive missile and drone strike on Israel in April.

The newspaper reported, “Aides present in the Situation Room the night that Iran hurled a barrage of missiles and drones at Israel portrayed a president in commanding form, lecturing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by phone to avoid a retaliatory escalation that would have inflamed the Middle East. ‘Let me be crystal clear,’ Mr. Biden said. ‘If you launch a big attack on Iran, you’re on your own.’

Netanyahu strongly resisted, emphasizing the necessity to retaliate to prevent future assaults.

Days after the Iranian attack, Israel launched a limited missile strike on an airbase near Isfahan in Iran. This action demonstrated Israel’s ability to precisely target strategic sites in Iran without further escalating the conflict.

Despite the NY Times’ positive portrayal of Biden’s mental fitness, numerous reports, video footage, observations, and interviews indicate a noticeable change in Mr. Biden since he took office 3½ years ago. The White House frequently releases corrected transcripts of his speeches, which often show his confusion over names, places, and dates.

Last week’s debate led some close to him to worry that his decline had quickened recently. Several advisers and both current and former administration officials, who regularly see Mr. Biden but not daily or weekly, expressed shock at his debate performance, noting it was the poorest they had ever seen.
