Chinese Christian Leader Arrives in US for Medical Care after 16 Years in Jail, “I Pray Constantly”

(Worthy News) – Chinese Christian leader and veteran political dissident Zhu Yufu, 71, has arrived in the US for urgent cancer treatment after spending 16 years in prison in China, International Christian Concern (ICC) reports.

Born in Zhejiang province, China, Yufu co-founded the unrecognized Democracy Party of China (DPC) in opposition to the country’s ruling, oppressive Chinese Communist Party. He was imprisoned for publishing a poem that encouraged people to participate in China’s 2011 pro-democracy protests.

Yufu arrived in the US on July 28, and was reunited with family members, ICC reports.

In a statement given through the ChinaAid rights organization, Yufu thanked God for his safe arrival in America. “I thought I would never have the chance to be reunited with my family in this life, but thanks to the Lord’s grace and the efforts of all of you, I had the chance to be reunited with my family, putting an end to the earthly tragedy of being separated from my beloved family and being separated from the rest of the world for several decades, and allowing me to witness the Lord’s miracle of making the almost impossible possible,” he said.

“I pray constantly, believing that the Lord’s grace is sufficient and that it will not be Satan or the forces of evil that will dominate everything on earth,” Yufu added. “Thank you all again!”
