(Worthy News) – Ukraine and the United States have taken a significant step toward forging a full economic partnership agreement, Ukrainian Economy Minister and First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced on April 17
In a post on X, Svyrydenko confirmed the signing of a Memorandum of Intent with U.S. officials, calling it the first formal step toward establishing a broader Economic Partnership Agreement and creating an Investment Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine.
“We are happy to announce the signing, with our American partners, of a Memorandum of Intent, which paves the way for an Economic Partnership Agreement and the establishment of the Investment Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine,” she wrote.
The memorandum, she said, “demonstrates the constructive joint work of our teams and the intention to finalize and conclude an agreement that will be beneficial to both of our peoples.”
According to Svyrydenko, the prospective deal would create new opportunities for investment, infrastructure development, and deeper bilateral cooperation. “It is important that we reaffirm through our agreements the desire of the American people to invest together with the Ukrainian people in a free, sovereign, and secure Ukraine,” she added.
While the memorandum did not explicitly reference a minerals deal that the two nations have been negotiating for months, Svyrydenko noted that talks on the economic partnership agreement are ongoing. “The current pace and significant progress give reason to expect that the document will be very beneficial for both countries,” she said.
