Ukraine Damages Crimea Bridge in Major Underwater Strike, Cuts Russia’s Key Supply Route (Video)

(Worthy News) – Ukraine launched a major underwater strike on the Crimean Bridge early Tuesday, severely damaging the only direct land link between Russia and the occupied peninsula and severing a crucial supply route for Moscow’s war effort.

In a statement on Telegram, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) claimed responsibility for the operation, revealing that its agents had planted 1,100 kilograms (over 2,400 pounds) of explosives on the underwater pillars of the Kerch Bridge — a months-long covert effort that culminated in a powerful detonation at 4:44 a.m. local time.

“God loves the Trinity,” said SBU chief Vasyl Malyuk, confirming this was the third successful attack on the bridge since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. “The SBU always sees things through to the end and never does the same thing twice… this time, underwater.”

Dramatic footage shared online shows massive explosions beneath the bridge’s piers, reportedly causing severe structural damage to both the road and railway spans. Russian authorities suspended all traffic on the bridge in the morning and again later in the day, before partially reopening it by evening. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

The strike follows a weekend drone blitz on Russian airbases that Ukraine says wiped out 34% of Moscow’s nuclear-capable strategic bombers. Malyuk said that assault caused an estimated $7 billion in damage — a clear signal, he noted, that there are “costs” for continuing the war.

The Crimean Bridge — constructed after Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea and personally opened by President Vladimir Putin in 2018 — is both a strategic supply route and a powerful symbol of Russia’s claim to the peninsula. The $3.7 billion project has become a repeated target for Ukrainian forces seeking to disrupt Russian logistics and morale.

Russian authorities have not formally commented on Ukraine’s claim of responsibility, but state media confirmed that maritime traffic near Sevastopol, Crimea’s largest city, was also suspended following the attack.

This latest operation adds pressure to Moscow’s already stretched logistics and highlights Ukraine’s ability to strike critical infrastructure deep behind enemy lines, even after more than three years of brutal conflict.
