(Worthy News) – Iran launched a barrage of missiles Monday targeting U.S. military installations in Qatar and Iraq, marking its first direct military retaliation after President Donald Trump ordered strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend.

According to multiple reports from Fox News, Axios, Reuters, and the Associated Press, Iran fired at least 10 missiles at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar—home to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) — and a separate missile at the Ain al-Asad base in Iraq. Explosions were reported over Doha, Qatar’s capital, while air defense systems at the U.S. base in Iraq were activated amid fears of further attacks.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard confirmed the operation, naming it Blessing of Victory, and described it as a “destructive and powerful” response to what Tehran called “America’s aggression.” In a televised announcement, Iranian officials vowed that any future U.S. attacks would “accelerate the collapse of the American military establishment in the region” and further their goal to “eradicate the cancerous growth of Zionism.”

The White House and Pentagon have yet to issue a detailed response, though a senior administration official told Reuters that Washington is closely monitoring “potential threats” to Al-Udeid, the largest U.S. base in the Middle East.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, citing the need to protect residents and visitors, announced the temporary closure of the country’s airspace following the strikes. Meanwhile, the U.S., Britain, and China urged their citizens in Qatar to shelter in place amid heightened security concerns.

Despite the fiery rhetoric from Tehran, Israeli sources cited by Axios suggested the Iranian response was intended to be “limited, circumscribed, and merely symbolic” — potentially targeting evacuated facilities to avoid wider escalation. Analysts noted that this calculated approach might give the U.S. room to refrain from immediate counterstrikes, possibly leaving Israel to decide the next move.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on social media: “We did not start the war and did not want it, but we will not leave the aggression against Iran unanswered. We will stand for the security of this beloved nation and respond to any harm to it with wisdom and determination.”

The situation remains fluid, with regional tensions at their highest level in years and the risk of broader conflict looming.
