WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – President Donald Trump on Monday renewed his pledge to defend religious liberty, announcing forthcoming Department of Education guidelines that he said will provide “total protection” for prayer in America’s public schools.

Speaking at the Museum of the Bible, where the White House Religious Liberty Commission gathered, Trump also revealed that he had personally delivered the Trump family Bible–used at his inaugurations–for display at the Washington, D.C. museum.

“For thousands of years, the Bible has shaped civilization, ethics, art, and literature, and it’s brought hope, healing, and transformation to untold millions of lives,” Trump said. “The Bible is also an important part of the American story; that’s why I’m delighted to announce it. Just moments ago, I personally delivered the Trump family Bible given to me by my mother.”

The president tied the moment to a broader call for a national spiritual renewal. “When faith gets weaker, our country seems to get weaker. When faith gets stronger, good things happen for our country,” he said. “We are one nation under God, and we always will be.”

Speaking at a meeting of the Justice Department’s Religious Liberty Commission, Trump said that “the Department of Education will soon issue new guidance protecting … prayer in our public schools, and it’s total protection.”

Trump highlighted the case of Hannah Allen, a student from Honey Grove, Texas, who was told by school officials that she could not pray in the cafeteria with classmates. With legal help, Allen stood her ground and won. “Hannah, I just want to thank you for letting the light of your faith shine for all of those to see,” Trump said.

The president criticized what he called “anti-religious propaganda” in schools and previewed new federal rules designed to protect students like Allen. “For most of our country’s history, the Bible was found in every classroom in the nation, yet in many schools today, students are instead indoctrinated with anti-religious propaganda, and some are punished for their religious beliefs. Very, very strongly punished. It is ridiculous.”

Education Department press secretary Savannah Newhouse confirmed that the agency “looks forward to supporting President Trump’s vision to promote religious liberty in our schools across the country.”

Trump also launched the America Prays initiative, a nationwide call for citizens to unite in prayer for the country’s strength, peace, and prosperity.

The announcement comes against the backdrop of six decades of contentious legal battles over religion in schools. Since Supreme Court rulings in the early 1960s barred state-sponsored prayer and Bible readings, the issue has remained a political flashpoint. Past presidents, from Ronald Reagan to George W. Bush, have advanced measures to clarify or expand students’ rights to voluntary prayer. Trump’s move marks the latest effort to revisit the debate, signaling a more assertive stance on school prayer than recent administrations.

“America was founded on faith,” Trump declared. “We have to bring back religion in America, bring it back stronger than ever before.”
