WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – With the 41-day government shutdown now set to end, President Donald Trump is preparing to launch an aggressive new healthcare reform push that the White House says will finally replace the “broken” Obamacare system Democrats created.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Wednesday that President Trump will lay out a major policy proposal — informally dubbed “Trumpcare” — after the government fully reopens and negotiations resume in Congress.

“The Democrats were holding our country hostage to try to negotiate on a health care system that they created,” Leavitt said. “Obamacare…is a broken system. It has driven up health care costs dramatically in this country, and now they shut the government down to try to fix that system they broke. It doesn’t make any sense.”

Leavitt added that President Trump will be “absolutely open to conversations” but insisted the administration will not bail out a failing system with more subsidies. “You’ll see the president putting forth some really good policy proposals the Democrats should take very seriously,” she said.

Trump Outlines Vision: Money Directly to the People

In an interview Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s The Ingraham Angle, President Trump previewed what his overhaul could look like.

“What I want…instead of going to the insurance companies, I want the money to go into an account for people, where the people buy their own health insurance,” Trump said. “It’s so good, the insurance will be better. It will cost less. Everybody is going to be happy…call it ‘Trumpcare.'”

Trump emphasized that such a system would empower Americans to negotiate their own plans, driving down prices and increasing competition.

Shutdown Deal Ends Standoff — but Fight Over Subsidies Looms

The shutdown-ending agreement, brokered by eight Democratic senators, guarantees an open Senate vote on extending enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies that expire December 31 and impact roughly 22 million people. But it does not guarantee the vote will pass — and Trump made clear Wednesday he prefers a different approach.

“We want a health care system where we pay the money to the people instead of the insurance companies,” he said from the Oval Office. “We’re talking about trillions and trillions of dollars, where the people get the money.”

Some Republicans are instead pushing for sweeping price-transparency legislation to expose hidden healthcare costs and force insurers and hospitals to compete.

Democrats Split as Shutdown Ends

Democratic leaders failed to secure a promised subsidy extension as part of the reopening deal, drawing fierce backlash from progressives who wanted guarantees before agreeing to end the funding impasse.

Despite that frustration, the continuing resolution is expected to pass this week. It will reopen the government through January 30, restore back pay to federal employees furloughed since October 1, and require the administration to re-hire workers dismissed during the shutdown.

President Trump said he will “abide by the deal,” calling it “very good,” but stressed that Republicans will now move quickly to advance their own healthcare vision.

With “Trumpcare” preparations underway, the White House is poised to reopen a political battle that has defined Washington for more than a decade — this time with a Republican president signaling he is ready to dismantle Obamacare at its foundation and build a new system around direct consumer choice.
