(Worthy News) – The United States has closed its embassy and consulates in Saudi Arabia and suspended operations at its embassy in Kuwait as Iranian retaliatory strikes continued across the Gulf region.

The U.S. Mission to Saudi Arabia canceled all routine and emergency consular appointments and urged Americans in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dhahran to shelter in place after two drones struck the U.S. Embassy compound in Riyadh on March 2. Saudi defense officials said the attack caused a limited fire and minor damage, with no reported casualties.

In Kuwait, the U.S. Embassy shut down operations until further notice, halting all services.

The State Department has also advised Americans in more than a dozen Middle Eastern countries to depart immediately using commercial transportation where available, warning of “serious safety risks” as the conflict enters its fourth day.

The closures come amid expanding U.S.–Israeli military strikes on Iran, which have triggered missile and drone attacks across the region. Gulf states and several European governments have condemned Tehran’s retaliatory actions as tensions continue to escalate.
