(Worthy News) – Billionaire Democratic donor George Soros and his son Alex Soros have poured $102.8 million into the 2026 midterm election cycle, according to a New York Post review of federal campaign finance filings, placing the family among the most powerful financial forces shaping Democratic politics.

The report said nearly all of the money — about $102 million — moved through Democracy PAC, the political action committee launched by George Soros in 2020 and now closely associated with his son, Alex, who took greater control of the family’s political empire after George Soros handed over leadership in 2023.

According to the report, roughly $52 million came from George Soros through Geosor, a private corporation tied to him, while another $50 million came from the Fund for Policy Reform, a nonprofit that lists Alex Soros as a director in tax filings.

Critics say the spending underscores the Soros family’s continued influence over the Democratic Party’s leftward trajectory, particularly on issues such as criminal justice, immigration, taxation, and anti-Israel activism. Supporters of the Soros network argue its giving is aimed at strengthening democracy, civil liberties, and progressive advocacy.

The New York Post reported that both George and Alex Soros made maximum personal contributions to several prominent Democratic candidates, including Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rep. Ro Khanna of California, Sen. Raphael Warnock of Georgia, Sen. Jon Ossoff of Georgia, Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington, and Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner.

George Soros, now 95, has long been one of the Democratic Party’s most influential donors. His previous midterm spending record reportedly stood at $128 million in the 2022 cycle. With more than four months remaining before the November elections, the family’s 2026 spending is on pace to potentially exceed that mark.

Republicans blasted the spending as evidence that Democratic populist rhetoric often depends on billionaire-funded political machinery. Democrats and Soros-backed organizations, meanwhile, have denied accusations of extremism and say their mission is to defend democratic institutions and civil society.
