Census Bureau Analysis Finds More Than 24,000 Noncitizens Among 2020 Voters

(Worthy News) – A new U.S. Census Bureau analysis has identified more than 24,000 people who voted in the 2020 general election as noncitizens at the time they cast their ballots, prompting President Donald Trump to renew his call for stricter election-integrity laws.
The Census Bureau said Tuesday that its preliminary review examined voter records from the November 3, 2020, election by linking them with federal administrative records from agencies including U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Social Security Administration, and others.
Of nearly 160 million ballots cast nationwide, the bureau said it had so far determined with “high confidence” that more than 128 million voter records belonged to U.S. citizens and more than 24,000 belonged to people who were noncitizens at the time of the election. More than 32 million voter records remain to be analyzed.
Trump seized on the findings, saying the Census Bureau had begun checking 2020 voting records against citizenship records and predicted that the number of identified noncitizen voters would rise as the remaining records are examined. He also renewed his demand for passage of the SAVE America Act, legislation aimed at strengthening citizenship verification in federal elections.
The preliminary findings do not establish that the identified votes altered the outcome of the presidential election. The Census Bureau described the report specifically as a “beginning analysis,” with roughly one-fifth of the nation’s voter records still awaiting examination.
The disclosure comes amid a broader Trump administration effort to tighten election safeguards. The White House has separately cited a Department of Homeland Security review identifying approximately 278,000 noncitizens on voter rolls, though registration and actual voting are separate issues.
