Pentagon Orders Aircraft Carrier to Gulf


WASHINGTON, D.C. (Worthy News)– The aircraft carrier USS George W. Bush was ordered by U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel to move into the Gulf region on Saturday, in the event the White House decides to pursue a military option against the jihadists in Iraq.

“The order will provide the Commander-in-Chief additional flexibility should military options be required to protect American lives, citizens and interests in Iraq,” the Pentagon said in a statement.

The guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea and the guided-missile destroyer USS Truxtun will be accompanying the USS George W.  Bush according to the Pentagon.  The ships were expected to enter into the Gulf later this evening.

On Friday, President Barack Obama said he needed several days to determine how and if America would assist Iraq deal with the insurgency. However, he did rule out sending U.S. troops back into Iraq.
