Egypt: Over 500 Christian Girls Kidnapped and Forced to Convert since 2011

By Joseph DeCaro, Worthy News Correspondent

CAIRO, EGYPT (Worthy News)– Hundreds of Coptic Christian women in Egypt have been kidnapped and forced to convert to the Islamic religion of their abductors, according to Christian Today.

The Association of Victims of Abduction and Forced Disappearance reported that since 2011, more than 550 Christian women — from ages 14 to 40 — have been kidnapped by Muslims, forced to convert to Islam and then married to their captors.

After the ouster of Hosni Mubarak, there has been a surge in the numbers of Christians kidnapped in Egypt.

“Before the revolution, five or six girls would disappear each month,” said Ebram Louis, AVAFD founder. “Now the average is 15.”

AVAFD reported that the Egyptian police often refuse to search for the missing girls, claiming they left their parents’ home by choice.
