Over a Dozen Rockets Fired from Gaza; Sderot Factory Destroyed (Video)
JERUSALEM, ISRAEL (Worthy News)– Over the weekend a barrage of rockets were fired from Gaza Strip into Israel, one rocket destroyed a factory in southern Israel leading to speculation of an Israeli large-scale military operation to re-take Gaza.
Over a dozen rockets were fired into southern Israel over the weekend. One destroyed a paint factory in Sderot, injuring four.
Israel retaliated by targeting 12 sites in Gaza, including concealed rocket launchers and multiple terror-related sites, a spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.
This month over 60 rockets has been launched from Gaza, leading to Israeli retaliatory strikes prompting Israeli officials about the need to retake the Gaza Strip.
On Sunday, Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said Israel should consider a larger military operation into Gaza re-taking control of the Strip.
“We have to decide if we are heading to a scenario of re-taking full control of the strip,” Liberman said in an interview with Army Radio. “We’ve seen that a limited operation just strengthens Hamas, so the alternative is clear. There is no scenario in between.”
Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi called for an “extensive” IDF operation in the Gaza strip.
“To the defense minister, the prime minister, the education minister and also to minister Naftali Bennet, we are saying things clearly,” Davidi said on Army Radio. “The answer to bringing back quiet to the South is an extensive military operation in the Gaza strip.”
