KHARTOUM (Worthy News)– Sudanese Police assaulted, arrested and then fined 38 Christians at Khartoum’s Bahri Evangelical Church last week, according to Morning Star News.

After harassing the congregation for weeks, police finally penetrated the church compound by breaking through the main gate while security personnel prevented anyone from entering or leaving.

“We have enjoyed worshipping and praising God in prison,” one of those arrested told Morning Star News by cellphone before it was confiscated. “The power of God was present among us — let the name of God be praised and glorified from now and evermore.”

The Christians were charged under Article 77, which allows Sudanese authorities to arrest minorities for “creating a public disturbance”.

The Christians were released after being fined $250 each.
