U.K. Denies Refuge to Christians Fleeing Islamic State

By Joseph DeCaro

(Worthy News) – With the rise of the Islamic State, we are seeing what may become a “genocide” of Christians in the Middle East, yet the U.K. has closed its doors to them, according to Barnabas Fund International Director Patrick Sookhdeo.

However, the Polish government has already agreed to give visas to Syrian Christian families to resettle in Poland, even if the U.K. is unwilling to follow suit.

Barnabas Fund is working with the Polish government, Poland’s Esther Foundation and local Polish churches to rescue Syrian Christians. But in America, Christians are often underrepresented in the number of Syrian refugees who have been admitted into the U.S. in spite of being the most in need of resettlement.

Although Christians compose about ten percent of Syria’s population, only five percent of the Syrian refugees being admitted into the U.S. are Christian.
