Kenya: Attacks Against Churches Thwarted

(Worthy News) – About 120 miles from its border with Somalia, Kenyan police uncovered a stash of weapons after arresting 14 suspected members of al Shabaab last week.

According to Morning Star News, police found several grenades, assault rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition hidden in a rented house in the Soko Ngombe area of Garissa. The weapons were believed to have been smuggled into the country from Somalia by Shabaab.

Authorities raided the house after receiving information from suspected Shabaab jihadists arrested the previous week. The raid came just days after pistols and grenades were previously seized in the Garissa Ndogo trading center.

After the discoveries of all these hidden weapons and ammo, a pastors’ fellowship in Garissa decided to set aside two days of prayer and fasting.

“We know that this is the work of the devil, which calls for spiritual warfare, hence we are called to confront these spiritual forces,” a church leader said.

Back in April, Shabaab had attacked Garissa Univerity College, killing more than 140 Christian students after Shabaab’s Muslims had singled them out for slaughter.
