WASHINGTON, D.C. (Worthy News) – President Donald Trump is urging House Republicans to unite behind a new budget resolution designed to advance major provisions of the SAVE America Act through the reconciliation process.

In a Truth Social post Monday, Trump praised House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington, R-Texas, and Republican committee members for developing a strategy to place as much of the election integrity legislation as possible into a broader budget package.

“I am asking all House Republicans to VOTE YES this week on the Budget Resolution, which is an important first step towards getting a Budget Bill,” Trump wrote. “House Republicans must UNIFY, and fight for THE SAVE AMERICA ACT!”

The House Budget Committee advanced the approximately $95 billion proposal along party lines last week. The measure includes $60 billion for military operations and readiness, $13 billion for intelligence programs, $12 billion in agricultural assistance and $10 billion for election-related initiatives.

Election Integrity Measures Tied to Federal Grants

Under the proposal, the House Administration Committee would receive instructions allowing it to develop up to $10 billion in election-related spending over the next decade.

Republicans are considering federal grants and financial incentives for states that require voters to present photo identification and provide documentary proof of citizenship. The proposal could also encourage states to restrict widespread mail-in voting while preserving exceptions for military personnel, travelers, people with disabilities and those unable to vote in person because of illness.

“We need Voter Photo ID, Proof of Citizenship and, hopefully, No Corrupt Mail In Ballots,” Trump wrote.

The SAVE America Act would require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship during voter registration and photo identification when casting a ballot. The House approved the legislation earlier this year, but it has faced resistance in the Senate.

By using budget reconciliation, Republicans hope to advance portions of the legislation with a simple Senate majority rather than the 60 votes generally needed to overcome a filibuster.

However, election policies included in a reconciliation bill could face challenges under Senate rules requiring provisions to have a direct and substantial effect on federal spending or revenue. Republican leaders have therefore focused on grants and funding incentives that may have a stronger budgetary connection.

Trump Calls for Republican Unity

The president also emphasized that the package would provide assistance to American farmers and additional funding for the U.S. military.

Trump thanked Johnson, Arrington and several Budget Committee Republicans by name, including Reps. Lloyd Smucker of Pennsylvania, Ron Estes of Kansas, Andrew Clyde of Georgia, Josh Brecheen of Oklahoma and Erin Houchin of Indiana.

The budget resolution is not the final legislation. Its approval would establish instructions allowing House committees to draft the detailed reconciliation bill, which would then require separate votes in both chambers.

Republican leaders must navigate concerns from fiscal conservatives who oppose additional spending without corresponding reductions elsewhere. The Budget Committee approved the resolution in a 20-14 party-line vote, but its path through the narrowly divided House remains uncertain.

For Trump, the immediate objective is clear: keep House Republicans together long enough to move his election integrity agenda one step closer to enactment.
