Obama, Netanyahu discuss path to two-state talks with Palestinians
(Worthy News) – In their first meeting since the U.S. signed a nuclear accord with Iran over Israeli objections, President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said they want to get talks back on track between Israelis and Palestinians toward a two-state solution.
“We have not given up our hope for peace,” Mr. Netanyahu told reporters in the Oval Office. “I remain committed to a vision of two states for two peoples, a demilitarized Palestinian state that recognizes the Jewish state.”
Mr. Obama said he wanted to see if he can “lower the temperature” between Israelis and Palestinians, who have been carrying out a new wave of attacks against Jews in Israel. He said he was discussing with Mr. Netanyahu “how we can make sure that legitimate Palestinian aspirations are met through a political process, even as we make sure that Israel is able to secure itself.” [ Source ]
