Pakistan: Christian forced to become ‘sweeper’

(Worthy News) – This month a committee was formed in Faisalabad, Pakistan, to investigate any possible discrimination after a Christian was told that he could not work as the school’s waterman because of his faith.
According to Barnabas Aid, Headmistress Najma Naheed told Qaisar Jahan that he would have to work as a sweeper instead.
“You are Christian and no one in the school wants to get a glass of water from you,” Naheed told Jahan shortly after he reported to work as a waterman at MC Girls’ High School in Partap Nagar, Faisalabad. After Jahan explained that he had not been hired as a sweeper but as a waterman, the headmistress accused him of being insolent and disobedient.
For many of Pakistan’s Muslims, all Christians are considered to be “unclean.” For example, Christian mother Aasia Bibi was falsely accused of blasphemy after she had fetched water for her Muslim coworkers who considered both her and the water she touched to be unclean. After an argument among them ensued and false charges were filed against her, Bibi has been on death row since 2010.
