House will try to advance $1.07 trillion budget deal this week


(Worthy News) – House Republicans will try to advance a budget resolution on Wednesday despite protests from conservatives who want to reduce spending.

House Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price, R-Ga., announced his panel will consider the fiscal 2017 budget plan, which calls for $1.07 trillion in spending next year.

A majority of the Republican conference may not support the measure, however. The Republican Study Committee and the House Freedom Caucus, who combined comprise more than half the GOP conference, said they want to reduce the top line number to comply with spending caps mandated in the 2011 Budget Control Act, which is aimed at reducing the deficit.
