Missouri's Republican-led Senate has passed a wide-ranging bill to ban abortions at eight weeks of pregnancy, acting only hours after Alabama's governor signed a near-total abortion ban into law. The Missouri bill needs another vote of approval in the GOP-led House before it can go to Republican Gov. Mike Parson, who voiced support for an earlier version Wednesday.
Republican House members held a press conference this week to announce the filing of a discharge petition to allow the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act to be voted on. Twenty-five previous attempts to bring the bill to a vote were shut down by Democrats, who have a majority in the House.
The top Republicans on the House and Senate Judiciary Committees are calling for former FBI Acting Director Andrew McCabe and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to testify before their respective panels, following McCabe's explosive claims in an interview this week that senior Justice Department officials had considered removing President Trump using the 25th Amendment.
