Underground Church in Vietnam Ready to ‘Grow Forth’

By Robin Burchfield

(AgapePress) – The underground church in Vietnam is planning to plant some 10,000 new churches in the next five years.

Joseph Lee is founder of Tribes and Nations Outreach based in Manila, Philippines. He tells Assist Communications that the underground church in Vietnam is composed of 21 major groups, and their leaders have requested his outreach to print 20,000 sets of worker training books in Vietnamese.

Lee says the leaders also have the vision of establishing witness churches in the 24 remaining unreached people groups situated mostly in North Vietnam.

Lee notes that in 1990, his outreach group conducted special training for Vietnam underground church leaders, called “Operation 300.” Lee says some of those trained are now ready to go side-by-side with the outreach group to give training to the neighboring countries.

“This is clear proof that the Vietnamese church has risen to the challenge of the Great Commission,” Lee says.
