KABUL, AFGHANISTAN (Worthy News) — A strong earthquake rattled Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan for about a minute on Sunday. A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the northeastern province of Badakhshan in the Hindu Kush mountains, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
No deaths or damages were reported from the quake, according to the governor of the Badakhshan province.
The seismic energy released in a 6.0 magnitude earthquake is equivalent to 1 million pounds of TNT or a megaton of TNT. A 6.5 earthquake is equivalent to 5,600,000 pounds of TNT.
