Christian Women in Cameroon Suffer ‘New Kind of Atrocity’ from Boko Haram, Says Open Doors

by Jordan Hilger, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – Eight Christian women abducted by Boko Haram in Cameroon are receiving medical treatment, but not all have yet been released by their captors, according to Open Doors UK.

On July 29 terrorists from the notorious African Islamic extremist group, which pledged allegiance to ISIS in 2015, kidnapped the women from the northern Cameroonian village of Kalagari and chopped their ears off.

While Boko Haram has wreaked havoc across the Lake Chad region that encompasses Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon, Nigeria has by far been hit the hardest, and incursions into the majority Christian Cameroon are by comparison recent.

Nevertheless, Open Doors UK said that what happened to the women in Cameroon was a “new type of atrocity,” even for a group that, along with Muslim Fulani herdsmen militias, was responsible for almost 4,000 Christian deaths in Nigeria in 2018 alone.

Aside from slayings, what has effectively become the West African branch of ISIS has abducted 1,000 children in Nigeria since 2013, according to UNICEF, and often uses women as suicide bombers.
