(Worthy News) – Muslim Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria released a pastor they had kidnapped and held for ransom for over two weeks on Saturday.

The Rev. Elisha Noma was taken by 20 armed herdsmen from the predominantly Muslim ethnic group on August 14 when they broke into his home at 1am, and originally held for a ransom of over $55,000.

“A ransom was paid following a series of negotiations with the bandits on the ransom,” the Rev. Joseph Hayab of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) told Morning Star News, who reported that the final price for Noma’s life had been worked down to a little over $8,000.

Noma is currently being treated for a broken hand and burns inflicted on him in his captivity by the Muslim herdsmen, who have kidnapped or seriously harmed 40 Nigerian pastors over the last month, according to CAN.

Boko Harm, ranked the deadliest terrorist group in the world in 2015 by the Institute for Economics and Peace, is the other arm of Muslim persecution of Christians in Nigeria, which Jubilee Campaign director Ann Buwalda claimed in July was approaching genocide.
