Iran on fast-track to nuclear weapon
(Worthy News) – Iran has significantly reduced its nuclear breakout time.
Since increasing its uranium stockpile beyond the 727-pound limit of the 2015 nuclear deal, and beginning to enrich at 3.67%, Iran has activated 60 IR-6 advanced centrifuges that can enrich uranium 50 times faster.
“If we have to go back and withdraw from the nuclear deal,” Ali Akbar Salehi told the Iranian Students News Agency, “we certainly do not go back to where we were before…We will be standing in a much, much higher position.”
Salehi explained that the crumbling 2015 deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, actually allowed Iran to increase its nuclear program through the reduction of sanctions.
When the deal was signed, Iran’s nuclear breakout time, or the time it would take the country to acquire a nuclear weapon, was estimated at only a year.
