Anti-Semitic graffiti in UK tails attacks on Jews in US during Hanukkah season
by Jordan Hilger, Worthy News Correspondent
(Worthy News) – Jewish stars of David adjoined to the numbers “911” were discovered on an Israeli-style restaurant and on a synagogue in the predominantly Jewish areas of Hampstead and Belsize Park in north London in the UK Sunday.
The graffiti follows a wave of anti-semitic attacks in the New York City metropolitan area, including a machete-wielding break-in on a rabbi’s Hanukkah party and the shooting of three Jews with a high-powered rifle by a black Hebrew Israelite in Jersey City, in recent weeks.
“We must move heaven and earth to eradicate this racist hatred, which was unimaginable just a few years ago,” said Hamstead Councillor Oliver Cooper.
Statistics from Community Security Trust (CST) showed 892 anti-Semitic incidents in the UK between January and June, the highest number ever recorded during that time period.
