(Worthy News) – Between 10 and 50 people were killed in northern Burkina Faso Sunday, as a refugee crisis from Islamic attacks on the country’s Christian population has already created 530,000 displaced persons in the West African country.

The town of Silgadji was also the site of an attack against Christians by Muslim extremists in April, when a gunman killed a pastor and four others outside their church.

Muslim radicals killed 14 worshippers in a Christian church in December as well, and locals report that the country’s 20% Christian population is now living in fear of Islamic extremism, which seems to be taking over the country much as Boko Haram has done in Nigeria.

A total of 40 Christians were killed in Burkina Faso in 2019, which is now number 28 on Open Doors USA’s World Watch List for the countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian.
