(Worthy News) – The Saudi crown prince has arrested two former rivals in a move that many see as an attempt to position himself to seize the throne from his 84-year-old father.
Prince Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz, brother of King Salman, and Mohammed bin Nayef, nephew of the king and former heir to the throne before current crown prince Mohammed bin Salman seized the ascendancy in 2017, were both arrested at their homes Friday by black-clad royal guards.
“This is a further step to shore up his power and a message to anyone—including royals—not to cross him,” said Becca Wasser, a policy analyst at the RAND Corporation think tank.
Saudi Arabia is the number 15 worst persecutor of Christians worldwide, and has no churches due to the “Hay’ah” or religious police who mercilessly enforce Islamic law and force believers to meet strictly online.
