Iran oil industry failing as a result of Trump sanctions
by Jordan Hilger, Worthy News Correspondent
(Worthy News) – Sanctions against Iran begun by US President Trump in 2018 have severely affected its oil industry, reducing the number of barrels per day (BPD) the Islamic Republic exports by half.
In addition, a full quarter of Iran’s oil rigs have been shut down as a result of Trump’s sanctions, according to Reuters, due to the inability of the nation to buy spare parts from abroad.
“We are still dependent on other countries [for our oil rigs],” explained Mohsen Mihandoust of Iran’s Society of Petroleum Engineers. “It is like learning to work with a TV remote control, but still having no clue how a television is made.”
Iran is number nine on Open Doors USA’s World Watch List for persecution of Christians due to the illegality of conversion from Islam and brutal suppression by the government against secret believers, whose numbers have nearly doubled since 2016.
