(Worthy News) – Israel’s Water Authority has confirmed that two cyber-attacks were carried out against the country’s water infrastructure in recent weeks, Ynet News reported Thursday. These attacks follow an alleged attack by Iran on Israel’s drinking water in April. In a statement, the water authority said no damage had been caused in the latest attacks.

According to the Times of Israel (ToI), one of the latest attacks struck agriculture water pumps in Galilee while the second hit agricultural pumps in central Israel. “These were specific, small drainage installations in the agriculture sector that were immediately and independently repaired by the locals, causing no harm to serve or any real-world effects,” the Water Authority said in a statement.

In April, Israeli and British media quoted unnamed officials who alleged Iran had tried to hack Israel’s drinking water system and possibly flood it with chemicals. Hundreds of people could have been made sick and water pumps may have had to shut down in the middle of a heatwave had such a cyber-attack succeeded, ToI reported.

The timing of the latest attacks on Israel is notable: starting in June, Iran has been the subject of numerous mysterious, and sometimes lethal, explosions at a variety of sensitive infrastructural sites, including the centrifuge facility at its Natanz nuclear plant.

Although Iran’s Islamic regime is committed to the destruction of Israel, Iranian officials have not admitted to the attacks on Israel’s water system. Neither has Israel, which continually warns against Iran’s procurement of nuclear weapons, admitted to attacking targets in Iran.
