(Worthy News) – A new survey has found that nearly 66.7% of users are not concerned whether their smart devices are always listening to them, collecting data about their lives, and targeting them with accurate advertising, Safety.com reports.

Carried out by Safety.com from December 8th to December 12th, the survey asked 1,091 US residents aged 18-64 if they cared whether their smart home devices were always listening. Of the respondents, 51.9% were female and 48.1% were male.

The poll found that 66.7% of respondents said they “don’t care whether their home devices are always listening.” The survey also found that 7% more women than men were concerned about being listened to. Moreover, millennials and Gen Z respondents were found to be less concerned about their smart devices listening to them than Baby Boomers were, Safety.com reported.

In addition, the survey showed that respondents from “tech-dominant cities and areas” were approximately 6-10% less concerned about their smart devices listening to them than people from “less tech-dominant cities and areas.”

It is estimated there are some 290 million smartphones currently being used in America: “It seems likely that with more mass adoption, privacy concerns will continue to take a back seat to the convenience factor of having a smart device available at almost all times,” Safety.com observed.
