(Worthy News) – The woman who was shot and killed inside the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. has been identified as a female Air Force veteran and supporter of President Donald J. Trump.

Ashli Babbit, who was married and lived around San Diego, California, was fatally shot in the mayhem in the complex that houses the U.S. Congress reported local KUSI-TV network.

She had 14 years in the service and done four tours of duty, the station added.

Her husband was quoted as saying that she was “a strong supporter of President Trump” and “a great patriot to all who knew her.”

The Metropolitan Police Department said an investigation into her death continued.

Video footage seen by Worthy News showed a woman on the ground after one shot was fired. She was apparently shot by Capitol Police, law-enforcement sources told the New York Post pause.

Babbit was rushed on a stretcher to hospital, Worthy News monitored, but she succumbed to her injuries, officials said.

She saw it as her mission to protest the reported massive fraud in the recent presidential election. The woman responded Monday to a message posted by conservative author Melissa Tate on networking site Twitter saying, “Landing in DC. Here to do God’s work. Save the Republic.”

Babbit reacted in a ‘tweet’: “I will be there tomorrow! God’s speed!”

While Democrats suggested that violent mobs storming the Capitol were Trump supporters, several witnesses indicated that protesters distanced themselves from the vandals.

As he re-opened the Senate session after the violence to verify Joe Biden’s declared presidential election victory, Vice President Mike Pence warned attackers: “Violence never wins. Freedom wins, and this is still the People’s house.”
