(Worthy News) – Four pro-life bills have passed in Montana’s state House and its Senate Judiciary Committee, and are now on their way to the state’s full Senate for consideration, Life News reports. The bills had passed 67-33 in the House last month, before passing in the Judiciary Committee on February 9.

Passed along party lines with Republicans in favor and Democrats against, the bills are: House Bill 140, which bans abortions from when it is believed the unborn can feel pain, at around 20 weeks’ gestation; House Bill 140 which offers women the option of seeing an ultrasound of their baby; House Bill 171 which requires women requesting a medication abortion to first see a doctor; and House Bill 167, which creates a ballot referendum requiring doctors to give babies that survive abortion the same level of medical care that other babies of similar gestational age receive.

Three of the four bills were vetoed last year by former Montana Gov. Steve Bullock (D), Life News said. However, Bullock has now been replaced with pro-life Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte who is not expected to veto the legislation.
In a statement about the bills, House Majority Leader Sue Vinton said, “Montanans respect life, ethical medical practices, and allowing women to fully consent to medical decisions.”

“These bills will protect the health and safety of pregnant women and their unborn children, and also give women the respect that they deserve when making serious medical decisions,” Vinton added.
