(Worthy News) – A new survey from evangelical pollster George Barna shows that only 6% of Americans have a distinctly “Biblical worldview,” the Christian Post reports. The 2021 survey was conducted together with the Family Research Council (FRC), a Christian conservative group that Barna recently joined as a senior fellow.

Conducted in May, with 1,000 participants, the survey found that 51% of American adults say they have a ‘Biblical worldview.’ However, closer questioning revealed that only 6% actually do, the Christian Post said. It was found, for example, that 49% of the 51% believe reincarnation is possible after death.

Moreover, only 33% of the 51% group believe “human beings are born with a sinful nature and can only be saved from the consequences of sin by Jesus Christ.”

Commenting on the importance of having a Biblical worldview, FRC President Tony Perkins said in a statement: “Every Christian can and should obtain a Biblical worldview — which is only achieved when a person believes that the Bible is true, authoritative, and then taught how it is applicable to every area of life, which enables them to live out those beliefs.”

In 2017, a similar survey conducted by the American Culture and Faith Institute found that around 10% of Americans held a distinctly Biblical worldview.
