(Worthy News) – A UK Parliamentary group reported last week that government officials in North Korea have been murdering Christians and other people groups at a rate that may amount to genocide, the Washington Examiner reports. The UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on North Korea (APPG) said its report is based on evidence of atrocities committed by North Korean officials against various people groups, including Christians, from 2014 to 2021.

According to the 91-page APPG report, North Korean officials have also been torturing political and non-political prisoners, carrying out sex trafficking, and conducting forced abortions and infanticide, the Examiner reports. The report further attests that rape and modern-day slavery and are common in the country.

The report specified that most of the atrocities are focused on Christians and on people of Chinese descent, the Examiner said.

Former North Korean residents have told UK investigators that “there were cases where the death penalty was carried out due to charges of carrying the Bible, distributing propaganda leaflets, and engaging in acts of superstition,” the Examiner reports.

The APPG report found that from 2000 to 2020, North Korean officials carried out 1,479 public executions and 443 secret executions, the Examiner said.
