Russia’s Putin Reveals Demands To End War In Ukraine

KYIV/BUDAPEST (Worthy News) – Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has laid out his conditions for ending the Russian invasion of Ukraine, including abandoning plans to join the NATO military alliance, a leading advisor of the Turkish president says.

Russian demands fall into two categories.

The first four demands are that Ukraine should be neutral and should not apply to join NATO, something Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has already conceded.

Additionally, Ukraine would have to undergo a disarmament process to ensure it wasn’t a threat to Russia, he told the BBC network. There would have to be protection for the Russian language in Ukraine.

And there is something called “de-Nazification,” though Zelensky is himself Jewish and some of whose relatives died in the Holocaust.

Those close to the talks said it might be enough for Ukraine to condemn all forms of neo-Nazism and promise to clamp down on them.

The second category may be more challenging to agree on as it would involve Kyiv recognizing parts of eastern Ukraine as independent.

It would also have to recognize that the Crimean Peninsula annexed by Moscow in 2014 is now Russian territory.

There was no immediate reaction from Kyiv, but more talks are expected in a bid to reach a deal in a conflict that has already led to more than 3 million refugees and thousands of causalities.
