(Worthy News) – The IDF on Saturday shot down three drones launched by Iran-backed Lebanese terror group Hezbollah toward an Israeli gas platform, the Washington Times reports.

Hezbollah’s actions were condemned by Lebanese government officials who said such unauthorized efforts to influence the US-brokered negotiations between Israel and Lebanon over their sea border dispute were “unacceptable.”

In a statement, the IDF said the drones were identified in plenty of time and were taken out without posing an “imminent threat,” the Times said.

However, Hezbollah’s actions triggered a strong reaction from Israel’s caretaker prime minister Yair Lapid. “I stand before you at this moment and say to everyone seeking our demise, from Gaza to Tehran, from the shores of Lebanon to Syria: Don’t test us,” Lapid said in a national address Saturday. “Israel knows how to use its strength against every threat, against every enemy.”

Also commenting on the incident was Israel’s Defense Minister Benny Gantz who said Hezbollah was “preventing the state of Lebanon from reaching an agreement regarding maritime borders,” i24 News reports.

In regard to the ongoing Israel-Lebanon talks over sea borders, i24 News said, the office of Lebanon’s Prime Minister Najib Mikati issued a statement attesting: “Lebanon considers that any action outside the framework of the state’s responsibility and the diplomatic context in which the negotiations are happening is unacceptable.”
