‘Israel Postpones Ground Offensive’, Report Says

JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Israel has postponed a planned ground invasion of the Gaza Strip to allow the United States to deploy missile defense systems in the area to safeguard U.S. troops, The Wall Street Journal newspaper reported Wednesday.
U.S. officials reportedly convinced Israel to delay their operation until these air-defense systems can be set up, possibly within the coming week.
There was no immediate comment from Israel, which has massed some 300,000 troops near the border with Gaza.
They are part of Israel’s declared war against Hamas after the group’s gunmen killed some 1,400 people in Israel since October 7, dubbed ‘Black Sabbath.’
The United States military needs time as it struggles to deploy nearly a dozen air-defense systems to the region, including for U.S. troops serving in Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, to protect them from missiles and rockets, according to U.S. officials.
Iran has been most vocal in warning the United States to stay out of the Israel-Hamas war, and the U.S. has accused Tehran of being behind recent drone threats to U.S. bases in the Middle East.
Washington has so far persuaded Israel to hold off until defense pieces can be placed, as early as later this week, but Israeli forces seem eager to strike Hamas targets in Gaza as soon as possible.
