(Worthy News) – A tanker linked to Israel was seized off the coast of Yemen on Sunday, marking the third incident of its kind since the war broke out between Israel and Hamas on November 7.

US officials have confirmed the recent attack on the commercial tanker named Central Park, owned and operated by Zodiac Maritime, under the leadership of Israeli businessman Eyal Ofer.

According to the Associated Press, a U.S. defense official said, the ship was seized by “an unknown number of unidentified armed individuals.” The official stated, “U.S. and coalition forces are in the vicinity, and we are closely monitoring the situation.”

Departing from the Moroccan port of Safi and transiting through the Suez Canal on November 22, the tanker was reportedly boarded by eight unidentified gunmen on two boats in the Gulf of Aden.

“Our priority is the safety of our 22 crew onboard,” Zodiac said in a statement.

“The Turkish-captained vessel has a multinational crew consisting of a crew of Russian, Vietnamese, Bulgarian, Indian, Georgian and Filipino nationals. The vessel is carrying a full cargo of phosphoric acid.”
