(Worthy News) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated at the weekend that the Palestinian Authority (PA) which governs part of the West Bank cannot take over leadership of Gaza once the war with Hamas is over because the PA itself rejects Israel’s right to exist, the Times of Israel (TOI) reports.

Hamas and the PA are arch rivals for leadership of the Palestinian people, and have been unable to present as a unified governing body: PA President Mahmoud Abbas has said the Palestinian Authority should take over Gaza once Hamas has been dismantled.

However, although Hamas is outrightly genocidal toward the Jewish people, and the Palestinian Authority is considered by the West to be more “moderate,” the PA is nevertheless known for its own deadly hatred of Israel.

During a press conference Saturday, Netanyahu noted that PA President Abbas has not condemned Hamas’ horrifying Oct. 7 attack on Israel, explaining: “[The PA] pays murderers…. They educate their children to hate Israel and, to my sorrow, to murder Jews, and ultimately for the disappearance of the State of Israel.”

“We would be putting the same element — utterly unreformed, utterly unchanged — into Gaza, and that’s what even the best of our friends suggest,” Netanyahu continued. “I think differently. I oppose it. I think we need to build something else. Of course, [there must be] Israeli security control in the whole area… to ensure no rise of a terror entity for years to come. And the internal governance must undergo a totally different process.”

“The PA has failed in this — it doesn’t fight terror, it finances terror; it doesn’t educate for peace, it educates for the disappearance of the State of Israel. That is not the group that should enter now,” Netanyahu said.
