(Worthy News) – Saudi Arabia officially became a full member of the BRICS, according to Saudi State TV on Tuesday.

Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan stated that joining BRICS was “a beneficial and important channel” for enhancing economic cooperation.

When initially formed, BRICS consisted of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa and is often viewed as a significant geopolitical counterbalance to the G7 bloc, which consists of leading advanced economies of the West.

At the start of the year, Saudi Arabia was among several countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Iran, and Ethiopia, that joined as new members of BRICS.

As BRICS continues to grow and fortify its position as a coalition potentially in opposition to Western powers, China and Russia are increasingly perceived as strengthening their economic footholds in the Middle East.

This development indicates a significant shift in global geopolitical dynamics, as Russia and China are seen as expanding their influence in a region traditionally dominated by Western powers.
