Myanmar: 29 Christians, including children, killed in air strike

As Myanmar continues to reel under the violent conflict instigated by the Buddhist Burmese army at least 29 Christians, including children, were killed in an air strike on a camp for internally displaced people (IDPs) in Kachin state earlier this month, the Open Doors international Christian aid group reports.

The International Christian Concern (ICC) aid organization reports that Christians in India’s Uttar Pradesh state are on high alert; emboldened by upcoming state elections, radicalized Hindus have intensified their attacks on believers, imprisoning a greater number of them.

Nepal: Pastor to spend year in jail for allegedly converting Hindus to Christianity

A pastor in Nepal has lost his appeal against conviction on false charges of forcibly converting Hindus to Christianity and will now spend a year in prison, International Christian Concern (ICC) reports. Nepal is no longer officially a Hindu state, but Nepalese Christians are subjected to persecution from radical Hindu groups who want the country to return to Hinduism.

Chinese government continues crackdown on Christianity

China’s ruling Communist Party is continuing its crackdown on Christianity by removing crosses from churches and adding new restrictions to religious activities, Missions Box reports. 

Uganda: Muslim extremist father locked up/starved his son for becoming a Christian

An evangelical team found a teenager in eastern Uganda to have been locked up and nearly starved to death by his Muslim father because he had become a Christian, Morning Star News (MSN) reports. While Christianity is legal in Uganda, former Muslims who become Christians are vulnerable to attacks by Islamic extremist relatives and community members.

Nicaragua placed on Watch List of top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted

For the first time ever, the Central American country of Nircaragua has been added to the Open Doors World Watch List of top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted. The Open Doors international Christian organization raises awareness of global Christian persecution, and ranked Nicaragua 50 on this year’s World Watch List.
