Based in Budapest, Hungary, he has reported from the front lines of wars and revolutions across Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans, as well as from countries including Burma, Canada, Georgia, India, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Laos, Lebanon, Thailand, and Turkey.

In recognition of his reporting on foreign policy — including Hungary’s relations with NATO and the European Union — Bos received the Annual Press Award of Merit from the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Born in Amsterdam, he grew up “next to — or possibly near — the old-fashioned typewriter” of his father, a fellow journalist, Johan Th. Bos, who introduced him to the profession at an early age.
