Imminent Islamic uprising raises fears in Nigeria

By Joseph C. DeCaro, Worthy News International Correspondent

KANO, Nigeria (Worthy News)– A jailbreak of militant Muslims in northern Nigeria has raised fears that Boko Haram is planning a resurgence in murder and mayhem directed against a state already under seige.

Armed Muslims equiped with high explosives engineered the breakout in Bauchi state in September, freeing 750 inmates, 150 of which were Boko Haram members awaiting trial for an uprising last year that killed hundreds of their fellow Nigerians.

Although Nigerian forces have jailed and summarilly executed many of its leaders, Boko Haram is thought to be regrouping; recently gunmen attacked Nigerian police in what may be signs of another Boko coup directed against the state and its oil industry on which that state heavilly depends.

Boko Haram is Hausa for “Western education is blasphemy”.
