(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that discussions between the United States, Russia and Ukraine regarding the ongoing war are progressing in a “very constructive” manner. Speaking from the White House, Trump spoke on the urgency of ending the conflict, citing the devastating casualties and destruction throughout the region.

“We are talking to the Russians, we’re talking to the Ukrainian leadership,” Trump stated. “It should have never happened.”

The president compared the level of destruction in Ukrainian cities to that seen in Gaza, calling it a “very sad sight.” He estimated that nearly 700,000 Ukrainian soldiers and 800,000 Russian soldiers have died in the conflict.

“I want to see it end for one simple reason: the life of young people being absolutely obliterated on both sides,” Trump said.
