(Worthy News) – A dual U.S.-German citizen appeared in federal court on Sunday after being extradited from Israel over allegations he attempted to firebomb the U.S. Embassy branch in Tel Aviv and threatened to assassinate former President Donald Trump.

Joseph Patrick Neumeyer, 28, of Colorado, was charged with multiple federal offenses, including threatening the life of a former U.S. president and attempting to use explosive devices against a U.S. diplomatic mission. He faces up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines if convicted.

According to the U.S. Justice Department, Neumeyer arrived in Israel in April and on May 19 posted violent threats online, including “Join me as I burn down the embassy in Tel Aviv. Death to America, death to Americans, and f— the west.” That same day, he allegedly spat on a U.S. embassy guard and fled after being confronted, leaving behind a black backpack containing Molotov cocktails.

“This defendant is charged with planning a devastating attack targeting our embassy in Israel, threatening death to Americans, and President Trump’s life,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi. “The Department of Justice will not tolerate such violence.”

The FBI and DOJ credited Israeli authorities with swiftly apprehending Neumeyer and preventing a tragedy. “Armed with potentially lethal devices, he sought to cause chaos and destruction,” said U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella. “His arrest sends a clear message: violence against U.S. citizens or institutions—anywhere—will be met with justice.”

Court documents reveal Neumeyer’s online posts also included threats against tech mogul Elon Musk and Texas Governor Greg Abbott, alongside violent rhetoric dating back to March. He was deported from Israel and arrested upon arrival at JFK Airport on May 25.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
