(Worthy News) – Iran is rebuilding its air defense systems around key nuclear sites amid fears of potential Israeli or U.S. strikes, according to the Financial Times. Satellite imagery and intelligence reports show Tehran has moved missile launchers, including Russian-made S-300s, to protect uranium enrichment facilities at Natanz and Fordow.

Iran’s top military official, Gen. Mohammad Bagheri, said the country’s air defenses have seen a “remarkable improvement,” warning that any attack would cause “significant damage” to its enemies. Public displays of military strength–including Army Day parades and live-fire exercises–have featured upgraded systems, some using Iranian-made radars to replace damaged Russian components.

Israel reportedly damaged or destroyed multiple Iranian air defense systems in airstrikes in April and October 2024, leaving parts of the country vulnerable. While some analysts question how many launchers were actually hit, Iran is working to counter the perception that its defenses were crippled.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed those strikes severely limited Iran’s missile capabilities. Meanwhile, Israel and the U.S. have continued joint preparations for possible future operations, with U.S. B-2 and B-52 bombers deployed to Diego Garcia.

Diplomatic efforts to renew a nuclear deal are faltering. Iran is expected to reject the latest U.S. proposal, which Tehran says fails to respect its right to enrich uranium. President Donald Trump has threatened military action if talks collapse, declaring Iran “must never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.”
