(Worthy News) – U.S. President Donald Trump warned Sunday that the United States could be drawn directly into the escalating war between Israel and Iran if hostilities continue to spiral. While reiterating that the U.S. had no role in Israel’s latest strikes, Trump left the door open to military intervention, vowing a devastating response to any Iranian attack on American forces.

“We’re not involved in it. It’s possible we could get involved. But we are not at this moment involved,” Trump told ABC News. “If we are attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the U.S. Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before.”

Posting earlier on Truth Social, Trump stressed that “the U.S. had nothing to do with the attack on Iran tonight” and urged a swift resolution. “We can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel, and end this bloody conflict!!!” he wrote, adding later, “Make the Middle East Great Again.”

Trump also suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin could act as a mediator, noting that they had discussed the conflict in depth during a recent call. “He is ready. He called me about it. We had a long talk about it. We talked about this more than his situation [in Ukraine]. This is something I believe is going to get resolved.”

His remarks came as Israel and Iran exchanged some of the deadliest strikes since the war began Friday. Israel’s military said it carried out its longest-range strike of the conflict, targeting Mashhad Airport in eastern Iran on Sunday. Overnight, Israeli warplanes pummeled Tehran with an extensive series of strikes aimed at facilities linked to Iran’s nuclear weapons project, including the Defense Ministry headquarters and SPND nuclear project offices.

Meanwhile, Iran fired waves of missiles at Israel, with Iranian authorities claiming at least 75 fatalities from Israeli strikes and Israel reporting 13 dead, including three children, from the overnight bombardment. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said its missiles targeted Israeli fuel facilities used by fighter jets—an assertion not confirmed by Israel.

The U.S. State Department, amid growing security concerns, authorized the voluntary departure of families and some non-emergency personnel from Israel. “U.S. citizens who wish to depart should not delay in taking advantage of commercial transportation options,” the department said, while maintaining a shelter-in-place advisory for remaining embassy staff.

Despite Trump’s assertions, Iran insists the U.S. was complicit in the Israeli strikes. “We have solid proof of the support of the American forces and American bases in the region for the attacks of the Zionist regime military forces,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. “We don’t believe the U.S.’s claim [of non-involvement].”

In Iraq, tensions rose further as three drones targeted the Ain al-Asad base housing U.S. forces early Sunday. American officials said the drones were intercepted. No group claimed responsibility, though pro-Iranian militias have previously conducted similar attacks.

These militias—part of the so-called Islamic Resistance in Iraq—number about 50,000 fighters and had recently engaged in talks about disarming to avoid direct confrontation with the U.S. They had largely held back during the recent Gaza fighting but have now rejoined regional hostilities, alongside Hezbollah and Yemen’s Houthis.

Israeli leaders have vowed to press on with Operation Rising Lion until Iran’s military capabilities are crippled. Defense Minister Israel Katz warned Tehran on Sunday: “If Khamenei continues to fire missiles at the Israeli home front, Tehran will burn.” He added that the IDF had begun issuing evacuation notices to residents near weapons production sites in Tehran.

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian, for his part, threatened a fiercer response if Israel continues its campaign. “The continuation of Zionist aggression will be met with a more severe and powerful response from the Iranian armed forces,” he said in a call with Pakistan’s prime minister.

With missiles raining down, casualties mounting, and world leaders scrambling for solutions, the prospect of wider war looms large — a scenario Trump and others say they hope to prevent, but one that grows increasingly likely by the hour.
