(Worthy News) – Iran’s parliament voted unanimously on Wednesday to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), erupting into chants of “Death to America! Death to Israel!” as lawmakers blamed the West for recent attacks on its nuclear facilities. The vote, which passed with 221 members in favor, signals a dramatic escalation in Tehran’s response to U.S. and Israeli strikes and the IAEA’s recent censure.

The legislation, still requiring final approval from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, would halt all IAEA inspections, end the sharing of nuclear data, and restrict future oversight unless explicitly authorized by top Iranian authorities.

“The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran will suspend its cooperation with the Agency until the security of the nuclear facilities is guaranteed,” declared Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf. “Iran’s peaceful nuclear program will now advance more quickly.”

The IAEA resolution earlier this month found Iran in violation of its nonproliferation commitments—a move Iranian officials said provided justification for Israel’s June 13 airstrikes and destroyed the agency’s neutrality in the eyes of the Islamic Republic.

IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi called the vote deeply concerning, emphasizing that returning inspectors to enrichment sites is now the agency’s top priority. He warned that a significant portion of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile may have survived the recent attacks and remains unaccounted for.
